Nourishing the Soul
Being a nature lover, my desire to travel nook and corner of the world increases day by day. Not just admiring the endless things nature offers us but the journey itself that is the adrenaline rush, meeting new people, hearing to different stories, encounter unimaginable ups and downs .. all end up making us realise the fact that there's much more to mankind than staying in a limited space.
The naked truth that embraces the humanity for all the good deeds we perform while we are alive; We live only once and live like others remember us for good reasons. That’s more spiritualistic talk to start but if we are talking about that particular movie that came in 2011 with hot heartthrob Hrithik, multi-talented Farhan and charming Abhay and not to forget the hotness of Katrina in it, well such movie will also not come dubaara, magar hum chahe kitne baar bhi dekh sakthe hain, bore hone ka matlab hi nahi hain. It is not an exaggeration when I say it because I know that many agree my words and have indeed met many who shared the same excitement to watch it again. After all it’s script is preserved in the Newyork film library and many institutions still have adopted that as their case study for film making. Credit goes to Zoya Akthar and team mainly for that.
Why such excitement? What is so different in that movie? Some may ask. And it goes this way; assuming that the reader has already watched this movie I continue to further opinion, (and spoilers here) yet you wouldn’t understand the whole topic so bugger off, watch the movie first, it is worth every second you waste on it.
Three guys of three different career backgrounds who are childhood friends. Off course any normal socially active human being would have friends and they would have planned to go on vacations abroad to their dream destinations. Not everyone’s work by the way, but that’s the best thing, they out of all difficulties and misunderstandings finally go for a vacation to an exotic country in the world- Spain. Who wouldn’t love that? It’s in fact a feast of ideas and sight for a budding architects to study the ruins and old buildings there. May be that is also one of the reason for my fondness towards the movie but keeping it aside to proceed further, they decide to do one thing that each fear. And during which they also discover themselves and devoid from their hindrances in life and decide to pursue what makes them feel alive. One finds love, one loses what he thought was love and other learns what is true love.
Coming to the actual point of the page. What is that makes this movie so special? Firstly, being an architect student, I cannot ignore the architectural contents the movie feeds us with. It has given me dreams to visit such places for that at least. But I do not want to go alone. No one likes to go alone to any vacations in fact, but imagine down the lane life takes serious turns out roots expand and in that expansions we detach ourselves from the attachments, with sometimes family, worst times with our best friends to make new living. But is that really necessary to lose the fun and live like sun just burning with all the issues and problems and stagnantly seeing everything happening around? Secondly, every individual has a fear and it is vibrant and not necessarily unique. Even the stronger men had weakness and fear. The movie showed that if you face your fear that will be the biggest fun you will cherish your whole life, and yes that is true. Hiding from fear and living is like doing a model and not constructing to avoid risk. Going out being adventurous with anyone we love, the adrenaline rush that one experiences during such moments is the biggest treasure. Besides you might not be an adrenaline junkie but that kick you get is enough to forget any conflicts or clashes or any chaos of life. Thirdly, not everyone lands in their dream job or not every dream job pay you well. We are humans we tend to change sometimes for the good and sometime may not for good. But living in regrets for what we wanted to or what we are doing is not the life we live. To every dreamer or any ambitious person the ultimate goal is to work and earn in the field he or she is passionate about. But many of us end up in the opposite pole. May be we do not have choices or any be do not know the path towards it. But is there anything wrong in trying once we figure out we might regret not trying it. It is absolutely unfair to live a sad soul. Be it the job or the work we do or the persons we be or may the managers either love what we have but when you are sure you can’t, have what you love.
Well such a gyaan is deeply derived from the insights of this movie again. Because that being the soul of this movie, all it tells you is if you want to do something that can make you happy just go for it and try not to give up and if there is something that is holding you up from being you, try not to stick to that. It is the essence of the life that is important as we live just once and once only (unless you wait for reincarnation with to be continued…).
That is why it is my favorite movie and will remain the same to many others of my generation. It is not just about the vacation or bachelor’s trip they show there, but it is to find the inner wills and wishes and be with the person and do the things that defines your stature and make you happy and successful.
A man/women’s biggest loss is the emotional detachments, and friends are the lifeline in it. Always keep the strings strong and playing for you don’t know how many tunes you may compose.
